Looking to breed our yorkshire terrier around December 05
The last two times have been a disaster with phantom playing its part.We have had one litter .
The stud was from a very good well known breeder but he was tiny we returned to the same hopeing . now we have given up
and are looking for a stud from good stock our dog is not minature .We live in Cheshire ( Warrington )

A good well known breeder would not have a tiny dog to use at stud - it would be within the breed standard. Your bitch is not a miniature - no, because ther is no such thing. Perhaps you should find out a bit more about Yorkshire Terriers before you try breed any more of them.

Like every one else we are beginners we went to a KC OFFICIAL-JUDGE .
Now we are trying here please no negative there is quite a diffrence in sizes she is not the small show type 

How much does your bitch weigh?

she is 9pound

Two pounds over the breed standard maximum which is a lot in such a small dog, over 25% over weight/size could this be why she missed being so overweight ?

she had a phantom and but on weight she will lose the weight in time

She shouldn't have become 25% overweight during a phantom though surely that is a h*ll of a lot, I've had GSDs & BC's with phantoms & they never put that much on as a % , may be three or four pounds on a fairly large bitch.It will take some losing, the equilavent   of a 12 stone human losing 3 stones in weight

Maybe she's just a big girl?

One of the fundamentals of dog breeding is to produce better specimens of the breed.  Is she really a good representative of the breed if she is not the "show type"?  Just because a dog is purebred and has a pedigree (all dogs have a pedigree), does not mean she should be bred.  Unless the dog was sold as "show quality" (again, being from a good breeder does not mean she is show quality), I would suggest spaying her, investing yourself as a serious student of the breed, become an expert on the breed and breeding (which usually takes years), then purchasing a legitimate show quality dog to potentially breed.  Just do the breed a favor and not breed unless you know what your motives are and what the implications of the breeding will be.  Breeding shouldn't be taken lightly, and it takes a lot of research and knowledge to be done correctly.

Our yorki is Borsdane Hiedi AA3 ON HER KENNEL CLUB PAPERS she is of show quality We have used a kennel club judge as our mentor.who examined her papers before useing her stud dog.Iwould say that our mentor is more than experienced to judge the quality of our dog her first litter went on to win shows.I came on here to seek help not for people to take out there frustrations boy o boy what a sad lot.

Hi Sukisuki - There are some extremely knowledgeable people / breeders on this forum and they are trying to help you.  They are trying to help you to understand that there is more to breeding than putting two dogs together.  Looking for a stud on the internet is not the best way to go about it and shows a lack of knowledge, they are trying to help, but you do not seem to want to listen.

Ok Please answer my original question where may i find a stud dog.I have tried the kennel club and can not get passed the local kc representative for yorkis who insists I use her with no alternative .On the last two visits he has failed.I do and will listen to positive feed back.

There are several breed clubs listed at the bottom of the Breed Standard.

quite right suki you tell them! there is quite a hardcore bunch of unhelpful people on here who make it their days work to be obnoxious to people starting out in breeding, just ignore them, not everyone on here is like that and Im sure you will get the help you need :-)

I suppose you consider it OK to breed pedigree dogs that do not conform to breed standard just because you can?  That is not reponsible or ethical breeding, and quite frankly there are poorly bred pups in rescue whose breeders didn't give a damn once they were sold.

I read it that she was looking for advice about where to get a good quality stud for her bitch not advice about breeding/studding in general, but If I have it wrong I apoligise.

She should not be bred from as she will not be wihin the the breed standard guidelines.

If reputable, your bitch's breeder would be a good person to ask for advice.

If your breeder is unable to help you why not contact one of the breed clubs.  These can be found on the KC website and I am sure if you speak to the secretarys they will be able to give you some constructive advice on what dogs tie in best with yours.  I did that with my first litter and the secretary advised me of what one to use and what would compliment my dog and we have had some lovely puppies.  Good luck with your search.

SukiSuki - you said that your mentors stud dog (which you used) is tiny. If he is tiny, he may not be within the breed standard, so how can this KC judge condone the use of a dog which is not within the standard?

Why do you want to breed?? This has to be the first question you ask yourself. Just because your dog has a good pedigree doesnt mean you should breed, nor does that fact that you feel your dog is show quality. There are a lot of experts out there who truly know what they are doing - they trace lines back over generations of both stud and breed bitch and ensure all relevant health tests have been done before any mating is given serious consideration.

4 of my dogs have top pedigrees, yet 2 of them are too large for the breed, and 1 of them has an over sensitive skittish temperament so wouldnt consider breeding from them. The 4th is both show quality in that she conforms beautifully to the breed standard, has a perfect temperament and has an outstanding pedigree, yet I will not breed from her. Why? Because I am not a breeder - I leave that to the experts.

Examine your motives, then look to see what you would be giving to the breed. If you are struggling to find a stud, I would respectfully suggest that you ask yourself why.
