Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Which shows?
- By kfrancisg [gb] Date 20.08.05 15:50 UTC
I am new to showing but have entered 3 in September but no others.  I got up the list of general open shows on prodogs,  How will I know which ones I can enter and closing dates for entry?

Hi, open show entries usually close 4 weeks before the day of the show, so choose some shows at least that far in advance, and ring the secretaries to ask them to post out the schedules.

Can I enter any open show then?  Even in counties that I don't live in or clubs that I,m not a member of?

You can enter most open shows. Only the ones that are listed as a limit show are normally tied by being a member.
A good place to get shows etc are in the dog papers OUR DOGS and DOGSWORLD. These have most of the shows in the back. There are other websites as well such as fossedata.co.uk. The Champdogs diary here is also useful.
If you go to a ringcraft training class they normally have schedules available.
You can also pick up more schedules from Open and Champ shows as well.

Open shows are just that - open to all KC registered dogs.

It is confusing for new starters, but we are here to help if we can. Just keep asking questions and we'll keep offering answers. :)

You can show al over the world if you want.  And many people do.  However those people who do normall have been in showing for some time!

there are different types of shows.  http://www.ascuk.co.uk/conformationshows.htm  the link will give you a list of each different type of show and what the main differences are.  I take full responsibility if anything in there is wrong if someone finds fault!!!!
