Now something really cute! Or is this common in the doggy world? My best mate has two ESS bitches (sisters) Last year Meg had a litter. Molly had not had a litter then but was very interested and helped her sister move and clean the pups as necesssary. Now 1 year later the other bitch (molly) has just has a litter of 10 pups. (1 week old). Meg (previously raised a litter) has steppped in and is feeding the litter also. She is lactating very well. Result = 10 contented, fat puppies. Is this common!

My Springer x BC bitch came from a litter which was nurtured by both mother and grandmother (Grandmother was 14!) It's a 'springer thing' ;)

Definately a 'Springer thing' :) When I got Penny (lab) at 8 weeks, Megan (ESS) was having another of 'her phantoms' and nurtured Penny till she was around 12 weeks and the milk bar went into recievership :D

I've got a Golden bitch who has never had pups. A few years ago I rescued a 3 week old puppy. Elsa the Golden started nursing the pup and developed milk. I had 2 litters of kittens at the same time and they decided to join in so Elsa was feeding one puppy and several kittens all together! It was quite a sight. :D
