Any thoughts on this? I want to feed him this morning after a night of throwing up mainly fluid but 2 bones? We fed him 2 x chicken quarters yesterday which he loved! A vet once told us you shouldnt feed a dog for x amount of hours after throwing up? he is 5 months old

Regards

Like any change in diet you are supposed to start raw feeding slowly so that they can get used to it ;)  I would go back to what he was having before and add some live bio yoghurt to it and then when his tum is better, try again but more slowly giving just the tip of a chicken wing daily until this is tolerated, then giving a bit more etc.   Its best to freeze the meat before feeding it tho to kill some nasties which can cause illness, thawed out this meat is then safe :) but don't thaw in a microwave as it will cook the bones ;) ;)

It is quite normal for commercially fed dogs to throw up bones at first, as its stomach has only had to work at less than 10% when digesting commercial food.

Generally they reconsume it so it is not a problem.

It is not a sign of ill health, just a perfectly normal reaction which will stop in a couple of days.

There is no need to wait a period of time before re feeding as he is not vomiting because he is ill...................

Ditto tohme

He's more than likely been sick because he didnt chew the bones properly. Hang on to them as he eats if you can to teach him to chew them up.

I DONT do the 'introduce raw slowly thing' as i believe that feeding raw and complete together is probably more upsetting for the digestive system, unless you feed one meal complete, one meal raw (and thats not really introducing it slowly).
