my GSD benjiis coming on 17 weeks now and he is growing very steadily and looking well.
his paws are huge and a lot of people have been commenting that he will probably be quite a big boy.

he has a straight stong action when watchign him from behind. and he is starting to get the hang of his legs more now.

he is however quite clumsy, liek not stopping in time when running and occasionaly falling over his legs.

is it normal for larger breed pups to be quite clumsy at this age. he is fine intill he has one of his  mad moments then his little , but chunky legs dont seem to be able to keep up with him.

My pup was exactly the same! :-) He was always tripping over his own feet. He is getting a bit better now (5 months old), but he will still fall over if he gets excited or is running about a lot! I am always worried that he might hurt himself..6 stone is a lot of pup to be falling down! ;-) I dont think he realises how big he actually is. :D

My Newfie pup (20 weeks) is the same. She doesn't seem to be able to co-ordinate those big feet yet, especially when moving at speed :)

My rottie is like this, she has massive feet and will be a big girl. She also doesn't know when to put the breaks on and goes a little further than she wanted. Its quite sweet to watch but I am sure that she will be able to control her destination soon.

17 weeks is a very young age for a large dog to have perfect timing and control over those big paws :P

I have had many GSD's over the years and generally found the girls far more in control of their motor skills at an earlier age than the boys ;) Probably because the girls are generally smaller and weigh less.

I now have Briards...........if you have ever seen a Briard pup.......enough said

My current bitch is nearly 8 months old & weighs about 6 1/2 stone and still doesn't know when to stop, her hugh legs and feet seem to have a mind of their own and as for running into us, well lets just say that we all look like we've had bad car accidents because of her overzealous, out of control flying paws & behaviour :D

It's perfectly normal for larger dogs to be clumsy, some grow out of it and some never do, it's like people, some of us are dainty and agile.....others not ;)

But what I can say is that GSD's move like ballerinas in comparison to my current breed :D
