I've got a 6 month old CKCS bitch who for the last 3 or 4 days has been cleaning herself more than usual, and needs to wee more than ususal.  Yesterday she was sitting on the sofa with me and when she got up, there was a tiny dark brownish mark on the throw, she instantly started licking it as though she was trying to clean it away.  Today she is very moopy and apart from a few sudden bursts of energy, she doesn't seem to be herself.  For about 2 weeks now she has been rubbing herself up against one of her plush toys occasionally. At training on Tuesday the trainers dog was showing particular attending to her.  Her vulva doesn't appear to be swollen and I haven't seen any other signs of blood.  She barks at my husband for no reason, although she is still happy to sit on his lap and takes her toys over to him for him to play with her, and she is very "clingy" to me.  Does it sound like she could be in season?  If so, do I count yesterday as day 1?  I don't want to take her to training classes if she's in season.

The short answer is Yes! All those symptoms you describe are signs she may well be in season. Keep her isolateed from all male dogs for the next 21 day at least, and yes you should count day one from yesterday.

Thanks Dawn.  I was just a bit confused because I haven't seen any other blood, for all I know she may have been bleeding for a couple of days before I saw anything.  Oh I feel like such a bad mum for not knowing before.
