why do you breeders breed?i rang a so called breeder today and asked the question for what purpose was this litter bred? The lady struggled to answer my question and asked me what i meant,so i replied did you breed to keep anything from the litter or to improve your bloodlines,NO came the answer i just wanted to breed to sell them on to the public,i've got enough dogs without keeping anything,
i made my excuses and put the phone down.needless to say we won't be buying a puppy from that lady,i also got the feeling she felt uncomfortable about me asking so many questions.
But she never asked me anything about our situation if we were at work etc which i would have expected.

I bred a litter once and once only (will not be doing it again, very upsetting!) I bred to keep something back for myself to try and improve on what I already had and to futher my own lines.
Hope this helps :)

Good for you, don't buy anything from someone who breeds purely to sell. If I breed my puppy, it will be because she has improved on what she looks like at the moment, and has been tested clear for inherited diseases, and I will find a stud dog with a complementary pedigree. I will keep the best of the litter if that 'best' looks like show potential, and to start my own line which will be bred for health, temperament and beauty! (in my dreams, I know!!) :-)
