Hi
I have a 9 month old male rottie and I would like to use him as a stud dog. He has got a very good pedigree.
I would like to know how i go about advertising him and also how do i get his hips scored.
Any info would be appreciated.
Thank you
Amanda

Hi Amanda :)

At 9 months of age, you're dog is too young to be hip scored.  He must be at least 12 months of age and your vet will be able to advise how to go about it if you decide to proceed.  There is a lot to be taken into consideration before permitting your dog to be used at stud;  read the first thread under the heading on the forum of "Breeding" - this will provide you with much more information.

Additionally, it is the owners of bitches who seek stud dogs, i.e. they will approach you if your dog meets all the necessary criteria for health, temperament, type and compatability with their own breeding lines.  It is advisable to contact the breeder of your dog (if from a show line) to gain an honest assessment of whether or not he is suitable in all these respects.

HTH, regards, Teri :)
