Dear Sir/Madam,
Fingers crossed somebody will be able to give me advice. We have "Macey" our 2 year old Weimaraner Bitch and are desperatey looking to put her to stud as we wish to keep one of her litter and have too many friends itching for one of her puppies. My problem is that I am in the British Forces and stationed in Germany. You may think this would be an advantage whilst discussing a German breed, but with the language barrier and the only studs I have seen only being offered to WORKING FEMALES, it is not. Hopefully someone at your site may be able to help. Any information would be greatly appreciated. My email is johnchilderley@hotmail.com thankyou.

Dear Guest, if you are considering mating your bitch I assume she has been hip scored either under the British or continental scheme.
For the former you should know that the breed average is 13 for the latter you are looking for A stamp normal or A fast normal.
The German breeding system is, thank goodness, much stricter than the UK.
You need to provide a pedigree and then the dog should have passed various working tests to demonstrate it fits the breed standard.
Normally a breed master is consulted for permission for the mating after looking at the pedigree.
The other thing to consider extremely carefully is that as most breeds of dog in Germany must fulfil a function rather than be a show pony or a pet, you may find that even if you DID find a stud dog to use, the puppies may be far too "strong" for pet homes............
Please consider this very carefully.
