I have an 9 month old Weimaraner puppy, who has now taking to charging eveywhere when on the lead. He is very strong and sometimes if he pulls with enough force he could drag me over. What is the best sort of lead/harness that we could use or is it just a case of trial and error? The reason we have only had him on a lead and collar is that he has always walked really nice on a lead, and has now just started to dive about all over. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is not equipment that controls your dog but you.
You can of course buy any number of gadgets, headcollars, harnesses to prevent him pulling you so strongly but it will not train him NOT to pull, if you are consistent and he never wins, he will soon stop doing it.
Ie hold the lead in your hand and lock it into your waist etc, if dog pulls, just stop, if pulling never works, the dog will never have any reason to pull...................
If your hands slip or are cut by the type of lead you have, invest in a webbing one with rubber strips like reins, they NEVER slip, even when wet, unlike leather ones.

Weimaraners are a lively breed with a lot of energy as I'm sure your aware by picking this breed, add onto that you have a male dog. Have you invested in some training classes. Weimaraners love to learn and work. You need to knuckle down and put the work in with him now. It will pay huge rewards in the future.
Good luck

A short one!
If you find it hard to remember to keep the lead short and your arm by your side a shorter lead is better, the dog CANT get so far ahead and the closer the dog is to you, the harder it is for him to pull you off balance.
I find leather doesnt cut into your hands so much, or padded handle leads (although some can be so bulky its hard to hold them).
There are of course harnesses and headcollars which are a bit of a quick fix, i would ONLY use them on the walks where you just dont have time to train as well (and you shouldnt do many of those!).
