Hi my bitch gave birth to ten puppies on 29-8-05 sadly she was 6 days premature and 5 were still born. Since then one whice was born realy small died and the bitch laid on one and it died. Now im left with 2 dogs and a bitch, the dogs are realy thriving growing by the minute so to speak, however the bitch is not doing so well,she is still growing but at no rate like the dogs when born they were all of similar size but now the dogs are nearly twice her size. Please help is this normal?

It may be that the two boys are getting all of mums milk and pushing her off.   Try putting her on mum on a really good producing teat (usually one by the back legs) before the other two wake to give her a head start.  Do you weigh them?  Try weighing them daily and marking the weights down, as long as she is gaining steadily and seems content she should be fine.

thanks for that. i did notice the other day that the boys were pushing her out of the way since then i have been making sure that she gets a good feed. she is gaining weight but not nearly as much as the boys, she also sleeps alot more than they do
