My mal has just blown her coat BIG TIME as in BALDISH, she was a seal but now resembles a grey, I have entered her into Bournemouth show this weekend will she be penalised for lack of coat and will it be ok to still show? If not thought I'd use it as a practice session. Also any advice on coat care, keeping coat etc, have been using elderberry and nettle extract but don't think this has made much difference, she also has cod liver oil, tuna in oil, ready brek with goats milk, a complete meal and mince. And also shampoo what do people recommend, she is seal and white, do i use a 'white shampoo' or 'black shampoo' sorry to sound so stupid your advice much appreciated.
Thanks

For a moment I thought I had gone mad (shh those who said gone???).
When you said Mal I thought Malinois, and was going to answer that it shouldn't make much difference at the show as they are short coated anyway.
It was only wnhen you said colour and even then only when I got to the white bit that I twigged.
If the Malamutes are anything like the Norwegian Elkhounds have been this year you won't be the only one with a dog with very little coat. All of ours seem to have stop started moulting all Spring and Summer with the changes from cold to hot to cold spells.

You'll find a few Mals there out of coat - let's face it, August isn't the best time of year for Mals LOL
The judge at Bournemouth is a breed specialist and so will be more interested in composition and movement, however the coat will come into play at some point especially with two closely matched dogs ;)
I use a shampoo for harsh coats because I find that other shampoos make the coat too soft for showing. I only use whitening shampoo if I am just washing the whites :)
Oh, and good luck :D
