I've a solid cocker bitch who while a bit unpredictable around people is on the whole very good, great personality altho' little prima donnaish!!   She'll be 1 at end august and while she loves my husband, she's definitely sees herself as being my pet..or is it I'm her pet?!?  Anyway, we got a collie x a couple of days ago..he's around a year old and a real gentle soul!  She is being quite bossy with him especially if I'm either giving her attention and he comes by or giving him attention and she's close by (although her snapping/growling only happening when we're in close quarters!)  He can do what he wants when we're out in the park/on beach.  Can I take it that this is healthy settling in of two dogs in one home and all needing to find their place...Should things settle down?

Thats pretty much the reaction id expect from the bitch you describe tbh.

Give the dogs time apart, places to retreat to, and treat your bitch as the 'bossdog' which as a bitch she is more than entitled to (ive yet to see a multi dog household where the bitch is NOT the top dog!).

DONT try to make it up to him by giving him extra fuss, this will give her a reason to have a go at him. It is her house, and she is telling him the rules!

Thanks for advice! Yes she's definitely the boss and in fairness to him he's taking it well.  Actually, by yesterday evening things were already starting to improve! (Bit like going to doc with sore throat and when you get there it's all better!!!)
