Now this gets rather confusing! My bitch would be on day 60 from 1st mating or day 53 from last. We had 4 matings as she missed last time (probably not a good idea) anyway....I came in from work Friday (work 4 hours) and I noticed a large clear blob on the kitchen floor. Now she has had an opaque sticky discharge through but this was totally clear. In fact I actually thought it was water until I went to wipe it up and it was gloopy, it was about the size of the bottom of a mug, maybe bigger. About 30 minutes later I noticed she had a clear mucus dripping from her and she went out the back door and another blob of clear mucus.
When I had her scanned the vets told me she was closer to 4 weeks than 5 which made me think she's taken from the 3rd or 4th matings, it was a vet nurse not the vte who did the scan.
So I decided to take her temp and it was only 98.02. Took her temp twice yesterday and it was 98.2 and then 98.6. This morning it's back down to 98.2.
I'm not sure what to think as I have nothing to compare her temp to, ie; was it higher before? She isn't really showing any other signs, she's been picky for the last week and just sleeping alot. She's been in and out of the whelping box but only to sleep. She's still got a clear discharge, but all appears normal.

IF you have taken her temp correctly then they pups will be here soon I think !! :-)

When the temp is down to about 98 this is them getting ready for the outside world.  All of mine have had their pups with 12-36 hours of this temp drop. It does fluctuate up and down the last week but not usually that low without it being the real onset.

Thanks Blue, well she isn't reading the books as it's gone up to 99.3 which is the highest it's been since Friday night. Not sure if this is a rise after a drop as when I took it first on Friday it was only 98.02. She isn't showing any other signs, she's eaten pretty well today, better than the past week. I'll keep you posted as she's making me nervous now LOL!!

Good Luck, Chocoholic. Looks like it wont be long now. Try and get some sleep you will need it, easier said than done though.

Hi Again :-)

Generally it fluctuates up and down the last week then the day before it drops down , lower than it has been to about 98 ish ,it stays down for a while 12-24 hours ( will vary I guess)  and then you get a shape rise.

Now by the book ;-) and the litters (4) I have had that is exactly how it went.

There is a wise ( I better not say old) lady on here that told me this with my first litter and I have followed this as my guide faithfully and it has never let me down.

Good luck.

Hi, well it was 98.6 this morning. The lowest reading I've had since Friday was 99.3. I was looking at the temp chart on the Debbie Jensen site and hers doesn't appear to look anything like "normal" LOL ie; she's not had a temp at 100 or 101. I think she's going to keep me guessing!!

hi.Chocaholic, how is your girl has she had pups yet?

Hiya Morag, no she hasn't, not even a sign! Her temp is still low around 98.2. I'm pretty sure I'm doing it right (checked with a friend). I don't think she's going to follow the book...temp was 98.06 (36.7) this morning. Day 62 from 1st mating today, 57 from third (which the vets said she's took from) so it's just playing the waiting game.
Hope all is well with your new babies ;-)
