Or it could be a small border collie that just fits into the smaller jump category in Agility classes.  there are classes for Mini, Midi and Maxi dogs with jump heights accoring to the dogs height seperated into height bands.

oooh don't tell sheltie people their dogs are mini collies they will get most upset ;) the sheltie has developed  totally different character & temperament to the rough collie

There are people breeding from very small BC's & workingsheepdogs so they can compete in the mini agility with them :(

Its a guy on giveusahome.  He has a bitch for £100 but he's in Wales which is too far for me (I'm in central Scotland). Good luck

It's a collie cross, not a purebreed - doesn't say what it's crossed with.

Why do you want a mini collie?  A Border Collie bitch is not very big.
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 07.08.05 16:25 UTC
Sorry Moonmaiden, but you know me sometimes I just can't resist :d

LOLOL I'll set my friends shelties on you they will either lick or bark you to death & probably the former as they only bark if someone winds them up :D

I don't know of anyone deliberatly breeding Bc's to be mini.  Infact I don't know any BC's that run in mini agility.  I don know some that run in midi agility.  The ones I know certainly weren't bred to be small, they just happened to be so.  A friend of mine has a midi BC.  Her other half has it's litter sister that certainly isn't midi!!!  When you consider the breed standard height is 18" - 21" bitches to be at the smaller end of the scale and midi is 17" it's no wonder the odd one falls into midi.

I have had e mails from agility people asking if I had any tiny BC puppies(because I am on a site that lists my affix with the breed)I know a few actual breeders that received the same e mail They obviously were out of luck with me as I don't breed BCs & the breeders simply binned the e mails as I did

Ah now that is different!  You said people breeding them.  I don't know anyone that would breed for that size.  If they happen, fair enough.  It would appear therefore that you are like most decent breeders and not breeding for small size!

But if anyone thinks they will get a mini bc then I think they are very much mistaken!  I have not seen a BC under 15" (well apart from at birth!).  And more fool people that are asking for them.  They obviously don't know that much about BC's!

Maybe I'm no better than those people though... I like my collies big and powerful.  If only they could breed the snoring out! (sorry typing this with a snoring BC behind me!!)

They are breeding from very small bitches  thats why they wanted a very small dog puppy to use at a stud on their "Mini"bitches One if I remember right had a 14 inch bitch she was wanting to breed from that the owner had bred herself

Hi everyone, I am not especially interested in any particular breed, just a small dog would be good for our family.  I didnt know what a "mini collie" was as I've never heard it called that before - a guy had it advertised for sale.  Personally I love collies but it would prob be a little big; the reson we would like a small dog is so our children can hold the lead on walks and so we can pop it in the car to go everywhere with us :)

Hi Claire - looking at the advert, it would seem the collie is a collie x.  He's described it as a 'mini' collie, because he's expecting it to be small, but he doesn't say what it's crossed with.
Good luck with your search.
