Hi Carol, people apply to go on breed club C lists when they feel competant to commence a judging career, usually after a number of years active involvement with their breed, and some showring success. The application is considered by the breed club comittee and either accepted or rejected. Applications that include the attendance of seminars on general topics and breed specific topics are clearly at an advantage, also some breeding and showing success such as having bred winners of stud book numbers. These things demonstrate a true interest in the breed.
Seminars are also available for would be stewards, and then it's a case of offering your services to canine societies, to become practised and competant. :)
