Is anyone going to the show on the 27th?? I have never been before, but would love to go. Any info would be grate! Times, entry fee etc??? Can i take my pup or is it best not too?? Thanks.
- By thomas-the-spot [gb] Date 05.08.05 18:52 UTC
You will only be able to take your puppy if it has been entered and if you have not entered yet it is too late as the closing date was a couple of weeks ago.  Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings. :(

Hi mackleback, depends where you're coming from in the first place :D  Think it's more or less covered if you can get yourself onto the M8 (from North, West or East) or onto the A1 from the South.  You then want to follow the signs and turn-off for Edinburgh Airport (A8) - the entrance branches off from there.  HTH, Teri :)

Hi Teri, my brain still isnt in gear yet! :D I am coming from the North. If it is signposted, then i should find it ok. Thanks. I have never been to any shows before so i dont quite know what to expect. :-)

Is anyone else here going?
- By belgian bonkers Date 08.08.05 12:52 UTC
Hi Mackleback,
I'm going too.    This'll be my second time at SKC and even I managed to find it OK!!  Just follow the signs for the airport and you can't go wrong!!

Sarah.

Hi belgian bonkers, hopefully i wont get lost! ;-) Do you know times etc? And is there parking? Sorry for all the questions, i am a first-timer!! :D Can you think of anything else i might need to know??
- By Teri Date 08.08.05 12:55 UTC
Duh,  I forgot - now I remember :D  Well you'll be on the M90 to begin with, but it's very straightforward from there as the Airport is signposted ;)

I'm going on the Saturday (pastoral day) but not showing as we've no CCs for my variety so just a nosey about, will watch the black variety getting judged and then almost certainly spend far too much on yet more toys :P :P :P

Regards, Teri :)

I was going to go on Sat too, coz my son's 6th birthday party is on Sunday. ** mental note to take loads of money for toys!!** :D
- By Teri Date 08.08.05 13:08 UTC
When you drive into the Show ground you're immediately in a huge car park which is adjacent to the airfield - there's a £2 parking fee.  Not sure how much the entry fee is for non exhibitors though, never paid it before   :P

Judging starts at 9-30am each day but if your breed isn't scheduled on the Saturday that may not be a concern anyway ;)   All judging takes place under open sided tents so you get to stay dry from rain or out of baking sun - both good for up here where weather can be a bit unpredictable :D

Thanks Teri! :D I was just going for a nosey, but it would be nice to see some Mastiffs!! (there are none up here! :-( )
- By belgian bonkers Date 08.08.05 15:26 UTC
Hi Teri,
Am also going on the Pastoral day (showing the black variety!!).  Can't understand why you don't have CCs, as there seem to be more of your lot than ours!

Maybe see you there,
Sarah.

Hi Sarah :)

Yep, managed to miss you at Dundee - although I did see the dogs as I was showing my youngster too   Never been good on faces, names etc will be at SKC ringside so hopefully we'll get to say "hi" :)

Tervs have not had CCs at the SKC August show for many years although when all varieties were lumped in together for 5 years there were "AV CCs" at both events :(   Unfortunately the May show clashes with one on the Continent so the entry figures tend to be pretty low hence can't see us getting CCs back for the later one despite good numbers being around.  C'est la vie!

Teri :)

Oh Mackleback,

That is even easier :-) coming from the North.

Come over the Forth Road Bridge staying in the left lane.

Take the left right away ( signposted A8000 and Airport) This road is fine in the morning. Turn left at the round about.  Straight over the little one at Tesco.

Follow the road till you come to the big roundabout , it will say Airport and M8 etc  you go right there.( only 2 ways anyway)

It takes you straight onto the slip road for the motorway which you don't come off as it automatically turns into the sliproad for the Airport /ingliston  , it naturally bends to the left and takes you straight to road which runs right past the showground.  Just watch for the signs.

It only takes 10 mins from the Bridge.

if you are a member of the SKC it is free, if not £5 , parking is £2

Cheers Blue!! :D :D
- By Teri Date 08.08.05 14:29 UTC
five quid to get in!!!!  That's one less toy!!!! :( - nah, one less burger, whew, dogs were worried there for a nano-second :D
- By mackleback Date 08.08.05 14:35 UTC
LOL @ Teri :D

ONE LESS BURGER!!!!!!!! Maybe one less for the OH! (i like my grub too much!!) ;-)
- By Blue Date 08.08.05 14:56 UTC
LOL at you Teri,

SKC if being the slightest bit biased is a nice show I think.  Except the car park. :-)
- By Blue Date 08.08.05 12:55 UTC
DOn't as the SKC for the post code they will give you the showground office which is a few miles away :-)

It is quite easy to find and just mins away from Edinburgh Airport on the A8. If you plan your route to the airport and the sighs for the Royal Highland show ground will hit you first.
