I have a 6 month old bitch who has had kaolin on her ears since they started to go up as the breeder advised, but last night in the rain it all came off and they are still tending to fly up. How long will I have to keep this on her, anyone had any similar problems?

You might need to keep going until she's finished teething - could be about 8 months.  Apart from the kaolin on the tip, make sure that you are rubbing in a good hand cream (Intensive Care) or lanolin, into the inside fold at least twice a day, to keep it supple.

We used to stick sticky sweets on them years ago, always seemed to work, but there again it was very rare that they had really pricked ears anyway.

Much more common these days!! It's not rare to see big kennels frantically folding them down in the ring!! ;)

Well that's not going to work if they live with other dogs! :D  In fact I could see mine doing their level best to eat their own ears :p

Goodness, do you really have to work on puppies ears at 8 weeks?  How were they bred?

val some breeders start when their puppies are teething but with my puppies i never have to put anything on their ears my rough collie puppies and dogs have heavy ears. And val some rough collie show people today with dogs of all ages still use substances on their dogs ears and only take it off prior to going in the show ring all this does is to strenghen up the muscle of the ear.
