I have a 5 1/2 month old puppy that has all but 2 of his puppy teeth left and nearly all of his adult teeth have come through! never had this in my others before!
His first champ show is in 2 1/2 weeks and Im worried that 1. I will have to have them taken out at the vets and 2. (if I dont take him to the vets) I wont be able to show him like this? Any ideas and advice would be greatly appreciated.
What breed is he? Pomeranian's are well known for this and drive me crazy. A good bone does the trick fairly often. If you take your dog to the vets and have the teeth removed this way then more than likely you won't be able to show at all as it is seen as an operation to change a cosmetic defect I believe.
He's still only young you've got a bit longer to wait, but bones etc. will hopefully do the trick.

He is a pointer, and the only one Ive had to do this! I will try him with a bone as see the outcome!
If they havn't come out by the show will I be able to show him like this? (His adult teeth are perfect scissor bite - they are just covered by a row of baby teeth in front!!

Hi Lexi,
Agree with SWD re the bone - maybe even a raggy/tugger rope toy too :)
As for the show, IMO it's best not to rush pups simply because they have "come of age" so if that's the driving force behind your concern I'd hang off. Hopefully and most probably all will be ticketyboo very soon anyway! Good luck, Teri :)

Hi Teri,
I will try that as well, not that he will need any encouragement he is quite happy to chew anything and everything at the moment especially teatowels!!!
Lets hope this works, (Id just wish they would spit the teeth out instead of swallowing them as it would make life alot easier and less stressful for me!!)
thanx, lexi

My Cav bitch did that, luckily with only her top canines (though when she yawns I catch glimpses that might be a spare molar, she won't stay still long enough to see!) I gave her chewy treats and crunchy treats and waggled the loose teeth, and eventually they came out, phew! I would say don't show her if it's that obvious as to have a whole extra row of teeth, or people will remember that when they have come out and he is ok again. Someone at ringcraft said to get them taken out at the vet, but my friend who breeds Cavs said to wait, and the last one came out at the weekend (she is nearly 8 months!)

A nice BIG, Juicy Bone will do the trick :D the bigger the better :D :D or even several, if those teeth are really stubborn :D :D make sure there's plenty of meaty/gristly bits to work those front teeth too :D

Well, I bought the biggest bone I could find last night (had to get several to keep everyone happy!!), no teeth have come out as yet, although my house was very quiet!!
I did notice that his teeth have moved slightly and his adult teeth are now behind his puppy teeth instead of being beside them. I will get him a regular supply of bones as he loves them!!
Also bought him a tugger which he carried round very proudly all night (when not chewing at his bone!), so hopefully all these will work!
