hello. we have a yorkie she was born in november. she is as soft as a brush, extreemly calm and placid. I think if u have the yorkie from a pup with the kids then they get used to each other as the pup grows. My kids are 7 & 9 years, pick her up like a baby etc and play rough with her. People say they 'Yap' alot, but ours doesnt at all. she barks if someone comes to the door or down the drive,(like a guard dog) but dosent constantly yap. We had a yorkie when i was a kid too. We think a little dog is great around the kids because she is not to intimidating, even when stood on two legs. I may be biased coz we love our Yorkie like a new baby, the kids waited along time to get her and so did i. My husband wasnt keen on a dog but we won in the end.
