i have a 10 month old lab x which i aquired from a dog sanctuary,he is a wonderful dog but the trouble is he waits till we get home after walkies to do his business, but he only goes on concrete next to the back door inside the house,we mop with bio-logical washing powder and have even put his used paper outside to see if he will go there but to no avail, can anybody come up with a suggestion on how to stop this.he even watches my older lab and i thought he might pick up some tips from him when outside but no way,i have had him for a month.cheers.

There was recently post on behaviour board title(5 month old dobe not toilet trained)this had some very good suggestions on it worth checking out.
It is probally from Kenneling that has made it difficult to train.
Also could be from past experiances with the previous owners.
Do you now anything about his background i.e:has he always been kenneld
By the way welcome to the forum:d

yep i saw the post about the doby, all i can say is the kennel said he,d been there for about 6 months,so i guess he has got used to concrete floors, the kennel did not know much about him, what i can work out is when we are out with him he doe,s not like you to hide behind trees etc has he starts to whine also i think he was beaten has he flinches when your hand is above his head,so we try to stroke him from the side but at times he is still skittish.

I think the lead & certain spot in the garden seems a good idea with treats afterwards, as it sounds like he had it rough as a young pup only time will tell

My last dog never did do her 'business' when on a walk - which I always thought was a good thing, as I never had to fear polluting other peoples porperty, I'm always happy for my dogs to keep their mess in my garden.
