Dear all,
My OH is a Wikipedia fan and has found a request for pictures of dog breeds - sounds like the sort of thing this site might be able to help with!
For those who have not yet discovered it, Wikipedia is a free online
encyclopedia that anyone can edit, written collaboratively by volunteers. It
has over 600,000 articles in English, written by tens of thousands of
people. You can visit it at at http://en.wikipedia.org
One of the facilities is for people to identify images that are needed for
particular articles. The list of dog photos identified as being needed is at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requested_pictures#Dog_breeds
Note that people submitting images must own the copyright (or know that the
image is already in the public domain), and be prepared to release the image
for future use, by releasing it into the public domain or under another set
of conditions such as a Creative Commons licence
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags#Creative_Commons_Licenses),
for instance the Creative Commons Attribution licence, which allows anyone
to copy the image and make derivative works, but everyone so doing must
credit the original author.
See what you can all do!
