I wanted to know who to contact or how can you get sperm from a dog outside the country brought into the UK to use on a bitch without the male having to sit in quarintine, and yes the person concerned is a breeder and KC registered but wants to use a stud dog that is outside the country that is producing some wonderful progeny and is linebred with her bitch
but if the dog comes here will sit in quarintin to be used once and if the bitch goes there will have to have pups in quarintine which is a bit of a poop so to speak!
regards EJ
Firstly if the dog has a pet passport he can come to the uk without the need for quarantine, similarly the bitch can visit him too, provided the country is acepted for pet passport.
Second, if you want to register the puppies you will need permission from the kc before you even consider taking sperm from the male. The sperm itself needs to undergo 6 months quarantine with the sire having a health check from a vet 6 months after the sperm was taken and befor eit can be imported. Only frozen sperm can be imported.
I suggest you talk to the kc and defra who will provide you with the information you require.
