Went to look at shih tzu puppy, 5 weeks old at the moment, i am very concerned about her size she looks like 2 weeks old! breeder said she is holding on to her for another 5 weeks to see how she comes on which i fully agree with, am i being over cautious? with this puppy, are there any warning signs i should be aware of, others in the litter are bigger

It sounds as if she is the runt of the litter to me. I would not personally buy the runt as she will most likely be weaker and may have health problems later on, but thats just my opion ive know others to buy a runt and they have turned out to be just fine.

I bought a shih tzu almost 2 weeks ago whether she was the runt or not I don't know as her litter mates had already gone to their new homes. But she is a great dog, learning well, and she is very well behaved, I am so proud of her.

Daughter keeps asking why she was last, I keep answering I dunno perhaps because she was meant for us.

I feel really sorry for these dogs (known as runts). If no-one gave them a home where would they go. We have a shi-tzu 6yrs old . She was the runt. A more loving dog you could not have. When she was a few months old she had acute enteritas (sorry about spelling) and we nearly lost her. I suppose she is all the more special to us for the very reason that no one else wanted her. Please dont be put off if the dog you chose is not perfect. Is anyone.
