Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / FIRST SEASON AND GETTING A VISTOR

I HAVE A 11MTH OLD LAB JUST A DAY OR TWO INTO HER FIRST SEASON, THE PROBLEM WHICH MAY SOUND REALLY SILLY AND OBVIOUS IS THAT I AM LOOKING AFTER MY SISTERS 3YEAR OLD CASTRATED LAB FOR HER WHILE SHE IS ON HOLIDAY, I KNOW HE CANT PUP MY LAB BUT ARE THEY GOING TO BE ARIGHT TOGETHER? NORMALLY THEY GET ON GREAT HE HAS STAYED ON AND OFF WITH HER SINCE SHE WAS 7 WEEKS.  ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED WITH THIS DILEMMA, WHILE I AM HERE  WITH ALL YOU EXPERTS OUT THERE COULD ANYONE ADVISE ME ON THE HOW QUICK I CAN SPAY MY LAB AFTER HER FIRST SEASON. MANY THANKS FOR ALL ADVICE. KR

Your sister's dog may show no interest at all in your bitch, vague interest or go bonkers - it's impossible to predict. If he was castrated more than a year ago then at least if they do mate (it can happen) no pups will result.

The best time to spay your bitch wil be three months after her season, as long as she's not having a phantom at the time. A good way to minimise the chances of this is to start her on raspberry leaf tablets (available from pet shops or health food shops) now, and continue them for several weeks.
:)
