I have no ideas about dogs never had one before now....I now have a lab retreiver she is grown, & house broken & a very sweet & loving dog...... I dont know when she has to go or will she have to go during the night? where should I not allow her to go to prevent her from getting fleas? how many times a day do I feed her?

Hi Guest! There are loads and loads of questions that we need to ask to be able to help you best, which unless you Register you won't be able to answer! How old is she? Where did you get her from (her previous owners should be able to gine you loads of advice)? You can't generally prevent a dog from getting fleas - it's usual to spray them every couple of months using an insecticidal spray from the vet. Most labs are fed twice a day, breakfast and supper. She'll need at least two walks a day, both involving some off-lead running - if she's adult about three-quarters of an hour in the morning, and an hour+ in the afternoon should suffice. In between times of course she'll also need access to a garden or similar to relieve herself - about as often as you go yourself is a good guide!

I assume from your post that this is an older bitch, because if you had brought her up from puppyhood you would already have found out alot of this stuff. If I'm correct, and as you say she is house trained, she will not have to go out to 'toilet' overnight, in normal circumstances. I would not restrict her simply for fear of picking up fleas, they can be picked up anywhere and you should be grooming her regularly and checking her coat for evidence of the little blighters. There are many flea treatments available, just follow the instructions. In fact none of mine have ever had fleas, but two of them have collected a tick on occasion.

Feeding depends upon her age. adults are good on two meals a day, one at breakfast and the other at tea time. Puppies should be on 4 meals till 12 weeks or so then 3 meals till about 5 or 6 months then the 2 as mentioned.
