When I feed dried complete, I use Dr Johns Gold.  I use a mixture of foods but I know of Rough Collie kennels who use it as maintenance for all their adult show/breeding stock with good results.

I don't think that it's any better or worse than the other cereal based complete foods :o but then I'm not a canine nutrition expert. ;)  My dogs get a very mixed diet and I don't reply on any one food for them.  But I can only report what I see and that is that some of our top kennels use it on their adults exclusively.

No!! going to do some more now!! :(

I also feed Dr Johns to my 2yr old and 6 yr old boxer dogs.  Before using this they were on JWB and we also tried Purina but Sam did'nt seem to do very well on them.  I think he looks great on Dr Johns and most of all, he loves it.  I find with Sam, I don't have to feed quite as much Dr Johns as JWB Or Purina. His coat and Pepsi's coat have never looked as shiney too. So although it is very cheap to buy, it works for us.

Depends on the dogs I suppose.  I know someone who has been feeding their young Elkhound male Dr Johns and tripe and on loosing his puppy coat he has terrible dry coat, and has now been put onto a food with a good level of Omega oils.

Hi,
I have used this food now for over seven years, all my bullmastiffs are fed on it. I have had no problems with the food and my lot love it.
I do added things to it for a bit of variety, eg: sardines in oil, tripe, pasta and of course the obligitory Sunday roast!!>

I feed Dr John Gold to my older dogs as a maintainance diet have had no problems one lived untill she was 17 and another to the age of 14 which is not bad for a mastiff breed. If it works for your dog that great, if not do not use it again.
