my pup is 9 months old and still does this sometimes :(  you just have to slow right down, even if it means walking, tell him steady.  You can gradually pick up the pace when he is doing it right, you will soon learn which pace he is best at.  The judge wants to see his movement, if he is jumping about they cant see that so for your first few shows you might have to do a fast walk round the ring, which would be better than him jumping around.  If the judge wants you to go faster he will ask.

Good luck, my pup won gundog puppy group 4 at the weekend and he still had the occasionally jump when moving - you have to laugh though, I give him a treat before we set off so he has something else to concentrate on other than jumping at me and trying to get the lead :D :D

At least he's only a puppy and will be forgiven - my little monster is 3 years old and I still have trouble getting him to walk sensibly occasionally. If I go too fast he gallops, if I go too slow he drops his topline - it's a fine balancing act!!
