My 16 week old shih tzu has now aquired a urti. He is finding it really hard to breathe through his nose, bless him. Green/cloudy discharge is coming out . Is olbas oil ok to use with pups? not direct contact but on a tissues or bedding. He stated to puff excessively at first, standing really stiff on all fours and short sharp breathing through his nose. I opened his mouth to regulate his breathing, now the streaming nose. Have seen the vet who prescribed penicillin by injection then one tab twice a day. No temperature. What is the cause of this infection. We are at training classes at the local stables, could he have picked up some infection there? Any advise greatfully received. Back to the vet in 1 week. Any thing I can be doing extra to what has been done already. Any one know of, or could reccommend vitamin / mineral suppliment for puppies?

Yes you can use Olbas Oil (Baby Olbas is also available) with a pup but make sure he doesn't get it on his skin ;) I would put One Drop on a loose collar (near the fastening as its thicker there and it will hang underneath where he can breathe it in) this should help him to breathe. You can also use One Drop of Tea Tree Oil in the same way, this will help with the infection ;) Just make sure he doesn't get it on his skin or lick it (pups will lick the most unlikely things ;) )
