Hi all, what do you think is enough time to train your pup on a daily basis, i.e 10 mins, 20 mins per day??
My pups 14 weeks old now and i just do a few recalls with him, a couple of sits, downs etc, in all lasting around 5/10 mins for some tasty rewards!!
Just wondered if this was enough? :)
i do about 2 5min sessions on basic training and then train generally in the house, ie sit and wait for food general manners and also lots of socialisation.

Sounds about right for basic training I always have work bred BCs so they do need a but extra to keep their minds working & it does tire them out mentally, but what you are doing is what I do with my Cavaliers plus a bit of standing on a table & grooming training
As long as your pup is still as interested and focussed when you finish as s/he was when you started then it is not too much. Each of my collies has been different. The middle one could work for hours as a pup and never get bored or tired. It was always me who gave up first! :p The latest gives up a lot quicker and I have learnt to recognise the signs before hand so we have a quick game and stop there. Each dog will have it's own attention span, all you can do is go with it. :)

10 mins a day, split into as many small chunks as possible. Don't forget that training should also include a 'settle' command or similar - especially important for the herding breeds who are inclined to want to go on and on like the Duracell bunny ;)
