This was only a Companion Show but my 10 year old Irish Setter went Best in Show at Bushey (Akita Rescue Show).  I was over the moon, she doesn't look 10 not a grey hair on her (yet).  It was a large entry and i nearly didn't stay for Best in Show, there was an hour's gap after the pedigree veteran as we had to wait for the Mayor & Mayoress to arrive and i thought being a veteran she didn't stand a chance as most judges ignore them in the best in show line-up.  But we were under a lovey big tree so we had a picnic and waited, i'm so glad we did.

We had a photo shoot afterwards, started off with Muppy, me and the Mayor & Mayoress, then it was Mups, Mayor & Mayoress, then they got pushed out of the pictures as well and it was just Muppy.  It was nice that most people were amazed that she was 10 they thought she was a lot younger (if only that happened to me) and the Judge was really complimentary as well, made my day, week, month, year etc.  

Down side Mr G got thrown out of handsome dog (nerve failed me at the last minute to put him in pretty bitch) perhaps next time.

I once gave BIS to a veteran Chow whose pet owner had rescued her & a lady I knew(now deceased sadly)who used to show & judge them at Ch Shows came to me afterwards & told me she was surprised I had noticed how nice she was as most(then)Exemption show judges didn't know one end of a Chow from the other ! Having known Percy Whittaker I had to know what a good one looked like LOL
