I dont know if anyone can help, and a vet's trip is planned - but my 7 month old french bulldog is making a funny noise when he runs / trots. It is a bit like a muted knocking sound. I first thought that perhaps it was his hips, but there is no lameness or discomfort at all. The best way to describe it is that it is as if the floorboards were warped / loose and are making a knocking / clicking sound. He is too young for hip scoring, but his parents were fine. Could it be something he has eaten? any help / ideas would be greatly appreciated - thanks.

I understand that you thought it was his hips. You could have him PennHip scored. They will score the hips from 16 weeks old. See what your vet comes up with first. Good luck - let us know please.
I'd go with Janam, i've known a few horses what make a clicking sound through arthritis, it will benefit you to take him to your vet and see what they say.

LOL _ I've known horses make strange noises, and it's not through clicky hips ;)
Hi there all,
Well. I am afraid it is hip dysplasia - or luxating femur to be exact. Poor little puppy. I dont know if anyone can offer advice, the vet seemed to think that it was not the end of the world, and because he is only little it wont cause him too much problems. However, all the research I have done suggests operating. Any thoughts?
thanks x
