Please could someone recommend a good book/video on grooming westies, I have been told our 9 month old westies coat is too soft and that stripping would help, I dont envisage ever doing this myself but would like to be more informed before I hand him over to someone else for a makeover.

AMP Productions have produced videos for many breeds which are presented by top exhibitors or expert groomers.  There are 2 for Westies, one on hand stripping and one a Groomers Version which would be clipping.

To be honest if you can get someone near you who perhaps shows or is a good groomer they would do it for you. Stripping is something you need to learn a bit at a time and not by trial and error :-)

Not sure where you are if you let me know I could maybe recommend someone who for a small fee may show you how to do it properly.

I have a 5 month old westie and have been learning how to handstrip myself, I bought a video by Sue Thompson (Ashgate) and found this very usefull I got it from our dogs website and I have just purchased a book called Ultimate grooming by Eileen Geeson I got this from amazon and found this very helpfull as well.
