Topic Dog Boards / Health / Westie - yellow bile sick
- By Gillie [gb] Date 10.07.05 17:21 UTC
I am curious to know if any other westie breeders or owners have experienced their westie being sick, but it is just a yellow frothy bile. Mack does this possible 5 or 6 times a year, for no apparent reason.

He is never poorly with it, and it always happens over night.

Does anyone know why he does this?

I found this is most likely to be due to an empty stomach - a couple of mine do this occasionally if I'm late (even by 10 minutes! ) getting up. Giving a biscuit last thing at night helps keep something in the stomach long enough to get till breakfast time.

Hi Gillie,

I have Cairns and like Jeangenie says the problem is often an empty stomach.  One of mine throws up any time her stomach is empty, so her main meal is divided between breakfast and dinner.   She gets a snack in the afternoon and a snack right before bedtime -- or my cream carpet gets it!   She never throws up on the stone kitchen floor, of course. :-)
