Hi All

I was just wondering if any body else went to the companion show at Sanbach today? and if so did any one have the same opion as me?
I personally feel the judge was excpecting to much from the classes and taking far to long to judge them .We arrived to find a large que for enteries with the temperature rising we entered 3 pedigree classes and a few novelty classes, when the first class got started just after 11am (puppy class) my daughter took our pup in to the ring along with lots of other pups approximatly 30+ and the judge started to look over the dogs, firstly the smaller variety going over them on the table and he then made them do a triangle and then straight up and down and then made them go up and down again you can imagine how much time this was taking on each dog getting them to do three monuveres and the temperature outside was up in the 80's shining directly on to the dogs and the exhibitors after he got everyone to line up he then picked out a few he wanted to go round again before finaly picking his winners at this point you could see dogs getting distressed with the heat ,my daughter came out of the ring burning hot saying she didn't feel well so we moved to find some shade and my daughter was then sick so we decided to go home packed up our things and left as we where leaving the second class off the day hadn,t even finished and it was now 12.45 so that was nearly 1 hour 45 mins do to two classes as I say we didn't get to do the other classes we entered as I really feel it was to hot for our pup to stay and my daughter was really feeling the effects.I really feel that the judge was expecting to much and should of got things moving a little quicker to get the dogs out of the ring and in to the shade it was such a shame as the charity got a really good turn out for today but I think that there would of been a few distressed dogs and owners .

Actually he did take his time but all the dogs were great and the majority stayed until the end, me being one of them as I've just got back :d  Must admit I'm well and truly tired out.

Can't complain as Anton won the gundog class, couldn't believe it as he was like the only rare gundog there so thought in such a big class of about 20 something we'd get thrown out but he got first :d    Also the person with the Beardie who advised me regarding the show won her class too, but we didn't win :d

Really enjoyed the day and the organisers were lovely but it was way toooooooo hot.  Anton's at his grandma and grandad's now having a well earned rest whilst my dogs here are having a run rouond.

My mum also got two fourths and Anton and Mella (Spanish Water Dog and Pomeranian) came fourth in the strangest brace class.

Well done thats great news I wish I could of stayed but as I say my daughter was really feeling the heat after doing the puppy class it seemed to go for ever, and poor alfie was far too hot we never got to do the av terrier or junoir handling which was a shame as my daughter loves doing junior handling we where with the westie pup .

You do have to laugh at some of the dogs the judges pick out at companion shows - good job we've got a sense of humour.

I went to one on Sunday, unfortunately it was a very poor entry but best condition was won by a Keeshond (apparently the Judges Breed) with great bigs tufts of hair coming out, not just the odd hair but great big lumps of it.  Poor thing in that heat it was so matted.  We had a lovely shaded part under the trees and of course we were not in the ring long because of the entry but you do wonder about the judges sometimes.  I know that it's good to spread it around but that sort of judging in my mind might encourage the owner to keep the dog in that condition.
