Hi i had my bitch scanned today by a lady who has a machine but is not a vet,anyway although my bitch should be on day 31 and is showing all signs of being pregnant i.e. off her food last week, blowing up like a balloon after eating, and generally being a bit tetchy,the scan showed no pups,i didnt see any on the screen either.She had a litter of 10 pups a year ago(didnt get her scanned this time) and as she is a slender but muscular bitch i thought she had missed by the time she was 6 /7 weeks then she started showing almost overnight and as i say went on to have 10 pups to my surprise.Do you think its possible she could be carrying them high in her rib cage as i have heard of this before but always thought it was a myth??

No this is not a myth, my bitch was scanned at 3 weeks and only two pups, but she went on to have seven. We have also had a bitch scanned and told sadly no pups, but again we had seven, so it is possible that she is carrying them high. My bitch did not look that pregnant at four weeks but by six weeks she was huge, good luck :)

We also had a bitch scanned and no pups sadly we never had any,she had a phantom pregancy and every season she showed signs she was pregnant till we had her spayed.

My friends bishon had pups last night. her scan said 3 but she had 4. they said she was due about the 18th of this month but had them yesterday the 7th. They are all fine & of good weight.
