hi wonder if any one could help my friends black lab as just had 8 beautiful pups 10 days ago 7 are jet black one is black with a white patch on its belly both parents are pure black labs why is this does any one have any ideas thanx

It's not unusual for normally solid coloured breeds to sometimes have white spotting on chest, belly or extremities.  Probably due to latent recessive genes remaining in the breed gene pool and carried by both parents, or a blip in pigment cell migration in foetal development.

White patches normally reduce in size as the pup grows as pigment migration continues after birth.
