The only dog that I could recommend that you buy for a 4 year old child is a stuffed one!

A 4 year old is not old enough to be responsible for the well-being of a dog.   A dog has to be the responsibility of an adult.

If you are asking what dog is suitable to live with a 4 year old child, then it would depend upon the child - is s/he a nervous child?  outgoing & confident?

I'm sorry if I sound rude and abrupt - but I have answered the question that you asked.

Why not join, and enlarge upon your question.

Hi,
I am afraid you can't buy a puppy for children!!
It has to be for yourself as a reponsible adult.
As you will be the one feeding it for up to 8 times
a day! cleaning up the poo and wee as they do quite
a lot, taking them for there Injections and vet checks.
Sitting up with it in the early day's untill it settles.
As it will cry all night at first.
Taking the pup for walks what ever the time and weather.
It's like having a new baby in the house, and just as
hard work.AND don't forget they grow into DOGS.
If you mean a child friendly dog breed well that is different.
Regards
Denese
