I am going to be soon a very proud owner of an Aussie, which is about 9 weeks old and would welcome any helpful tips and advise about making him feel comfortable and homely. I am sure that the very few minutes he arrives into my home would be very important. I have a 7 year old female King Charles Cavalier whom I hope will also welcome him.

Please advise tips, suggestions and good books to read, this would be very helpful.

Many thanks

Hi Gil,
Congrats on your new puppy!!!! When I decided to get a second aussie, I took both my dogs I had already, to meet pup first in her kennels, then when I brought her home they came out to the car to greet her and we all went into the house together. She then went straight into a puppy pen and crate to let her settle and give them some time to look at her. I then made sure they had plenty of interaction but lots of time on their own as well with me. I didn't really have any problems apart from my bitch being a bit dominant with her but it settled quickly and she established herself within our pack. I still maintain the ''pack order'' now and she is 7 month old eg. I go through the door first, feed first, up stairs first etc, pup goes last. I don't know if it works for everyone, but it does work for me.
A book to read is ''All about Aussies''. aka the aussie bible. It is a really good book and I am sure you could get it through Our Dogs.
What is your dogs breeding??
Good Luck with him,
Gabrielle
