Me and my partner are thinking of geting a newfoundland dog and i would ilike to now if they are good with children.

IMHO it depends on the dog and the child/children.....  Some kids (I have one) just seem to have a 'knack' for winding up even the most placid dog, while others have an empathy with animals from day one.......  Also the dogs early experiences will shape how it views all sorts of different humans......  A responsible breeder will socialise their pups with other family members well before the pup leaves the mother.

In addition to the above I think it also depends on the parents/owners, they have to teach both species to respect each other ;)
