I need your knowledge please. How do I go about checking whether a name I just came up with for my new business is not already taken? and the design logo also? Does anyone know? Also, how would I go about copyrighting my name and design so noone can steel it or use it?

There are a number of ways to check for the name, with companies house will tell you if there is a ltd company of that name and a search on whois will tell you if the web site has gone :D Not sure about logos but companies house website I think has links to trademarks.
