i am just finishing my 1st year dog grooming at college, anyway this week had a phone call to ask if i could strip a 5month old westie, i said i thought it was too young, but he told me that it had been done before, i said i would take the dog to college and just tidy it up, he was a super little dog but his ears worried me, they were not up, he owner said they put stuff on them to try to get them to stand up , it starts with the letters COLL? any ideas please, i must admit it looked awful on the dog and he kept scratching at them, it would not wash off, i did tell the owner i was not happy about the stuff on there, my westie fell in love with him straight away, she is real butch and loved to chase him.

I wouldn't put anything on their ears at all to hold them up they have to get strong enough themselves I think.

Strip the hair back off the ears and they should pop up.

I agree with Blue - i wouldnt put anything on her ears - seems a bit cruel to me. I have seen 1 or 2 adult westies with their ears still down - they still are beautiful to me.
