I have recently been surfing the net looking at various breeds of dog, i was interrested to see that many pages relating to the Finnish Spitz state that this breed is not cursed with  a doggy odour(unlike my lab bitch). Is this true as i always assumed that all our canine friends had a natural doggy smell in varying degrees and if true are their any other breeds.

This is said of my breed also.  I went to shows with a lady who owned 20 finnish Spitz.  I wouldn't say they are odourless (after all tehy breath and also fart at times)  but they are a klot less doggy than many breeds.

My Father who is not into dogs at all reckons they smell if he has had them in his car, but then he is particularly fussy, and thinks dogs like Labs absolutely stink.

In my expereinces the Northern (spitz) breeds have lwast doggy smell about them, though even they when wet will give your car that wet rag smell. :D

On one of the websites it says dalmatians are odourless.  Trust me they arent they probably dont smell as much as some breeds but are definately pongy sometimes.

I am afraid like humans all dogs have a odour to some degree.  ;)

Malamutes are quite odourless too :) (Unless their coats get wet and they are left to dry naturally :p )

IMHE, all dogs smell to a certain extent :P Some more than others.

I've had short coated dogs that smell far more than than my current bunch of very hairy monsters. But when I got my first Briard I was told that they don't moult.....................Yeah, right :rolleyes:

But I do love my dogs smell, it's comforting, in a pungent kinda way ;)
