hi my litter of pups are now 3 weeks today. they are st bernard pups. i started giving them a little solid food last week because they where so hungry. but now mum don't feed the at all. we have to make her go in the whelping box, and if we don't hold her there or if we leave the room she will just get straight back out again. she will lick the pups and seems to like them but just doesn't want to feed them. if we go out she don't feed them and in the night i have to wake up a few times to put her in there and then wait till they finished.
i thought maybe its to hot for her so as the weather is nice i put a pen outside to see if she would feed them out there but she wont. i have cut there nails a few times so it is not that that's bothering her.
she is feed a barf diet so i was just wondering whether they wean there pups earlier when they feed on a barf diet.
how much solids a day can i give them at this age. and when can mum stop feeding them completely please help.

Are the pips resteless and hungry?  Puppies at this age can get what they need from the bitch very quickly.  If you are giving them as much as they want four times a day then whatever Mum chooses to give them should suffice.  If she fills up with milk she will want to feed them for the releif.  If she has been a good Mum up to now them trust her.  It could be she doesn't ahve a big milk dsupply but now they are on solids they will be fine.

Have you checked their nails are not too long and making feeding painful for her.  There is another thread on this same subject running at the moment.
