Not sure if I can post this or not but I was wondering is their the market within show people for a handling book. We already have one half produced as a handout, orginally for adults, then for juniors and adults and I would like to finish it off and see about getting it published maybe. (Basically I have nothing to do during my summer holidays approuching soon and I want somethign to do!!! :D )
It will be for adult and junior handlers, but will hopefull work well for beginers and then more advance handlers. So is their the market for another book or shall I not waste my time?
Opinions please! :)
Well, don't know about anybody else, but we're always keen to learn more! (that's myself and Catrin). We don't know everything yet (will we ever?!) - for example, reading some of the JH reports in Our Dogs, where the judges mention 'dog's feet not being aligned with the judge' - we don't quite know what that means - should the dog be sideways, or front-on? We do go to ringcraft, but there's an awful lot you don't learn there!
Hilda xx

And there I was thinking Catrin was becoming the perfect handler!!! :D
You have just given me the idea to add ihn a glossary to help read judges critques!
What the judges is saying when feet not alignd with the judge (I assume) is the dog is set to a angle to the judge and not square on!
And yet I've read to stand the dog sideways on to the judge, so there must be the perfect way of doing it then! So I'm presuming now that the dog's front feet should be parallel with the judge's feet, would that be right? It's just a thing I've read a few times in critiques, so it just made me wonder!
Hilda PS You can autograph my copy as well please!!!!

No dog is paralle to the judge, I think I'm confusing you. I think I will add diagrams in aswell! :D LOL I will think about how to explain it and maybe come back if I figure out how to explain things!
I think diagrams would be a great idea, for us novices!!

OK diagrams it will be, however....Can anyone draw!!! :D LOL

I would be interested, I definitely think there is a market for it - you might be famous one day, can I have an autographed version :)
Id buy it, id say go for it im sure theres loads of people out there that would buy it.

Thanks to you all. When the book makes me famous I will be doing autograph sessions at shows. :D
Well if there is intrest I guess I had better supply my 'fans' with what they demand! :D

rather than paying to get it published initially, you could market it as an e-book that people have to pay to download (e.g. using paypal) and get links on peoples websites (e.g. champdoggers sites) or ebay to market it and if there is huge demand for a printed version you will have made a fortune already off the e-book so wont be out of pocket.

I have no ringcraft, obedience, general classes near me unless i want to drive more than an hour and my only learning is from books, diagrams or pictures would be great to go with the literature.
Sounds a great idea.

Yes, please, I would find such a book very helpful. The book I bought from Amazon was not really much use for the UK. :-(
