Just got back from there - I went to show one of the pups that we'd bred - he was sold to an obedience home but the owner wanted to try him in breed classes too. I was dead chuffed , he won BOB Groenendael and got 2nd in his beginners obedience class . I could'nt stay for the group so his owner took him in and he just mucked about for her  - so did'nt get placed :( but what a good day :D :D

Hope she wants to carry on showing him as he is a very pretty boy ;)

Well done!!!!!!! Multi talented groenendale!!!!!!! :D

Fiona why is it a must have for yanks to have a table?  Just out of intrest but in some breeds it seems that the owners must have the table at a show?

Theres one lady, well known in showing who cannot understand all the parafelanlia.  She recons all your need is a brush, a lead (the dog of course) and a flask!!!  Not if we all took only that wouldn't it be so much easier! :D
- By Teri Date 18.06.05 18:04 UTC
Congrats Yvonne :)  Maybe she'll get the show bug too and lesser mortals (*me*, for eg) who daren't stray near an obedience ring with their BSDs will get to see him :D :P

I have been there stewarding all day which was dead fun.  Boiling hot but met some nice people.  My hubby spent all day yesterday helping set it up. It is lovely having a show 10 minutes from home ;) Showing Beagie tommorow and Charlotte JH but the judge looked tough so not expecting great things.
- By ice_queen Date 18.06.05 19:40 UTC
Who is it doing Junior handling and do you know todays results?
- By thomas-the-spot [gb] Date 18.06.05 19:48 UTC
Got to be honest dont know the young guy but he is in the catalogue as Owen Nicol and took longer to judge that than we did the 4 breeds I was stewarding 4.  I am sure if you have done shows in this area you would know the two girls who won.  They are sisters and they handle Tibetian Spaniels and their mums name is Jackie.  Sorry I havent got a catalogue but will let you know tommorow.
- By ice_queen Date 18.06.05 20:05 UTC
Yes now the judge and I only train the handlers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Katura (spelling) and naomi and I won't even try and spell their surname!

The judge shows (showed?) boxers and other breed manily within the working group.  Remember competing against him in my younger days.

If he likes katura and naomi tell charlotte, if she will listen, to take things calmly, try not to over do it (and if either of the girls did then I will personally sort them out next wednesday!!! :D )  Keep things calm and fluent.

Thanks alot

Do you train over at Stevenage?  If you do we are heading in your direction in the summer holidays as it is quite a treck from our house Jackie has given us the details so we can ring up and go over.  Perhaps she will listen to you more than us :)
- By f.a.brook [gb] Date 19.06.05 17:02 UTC
HIYA
Yes Rox does train at a club in Stevenage, she helped me out once when i went and stayed with her any boy did it help! i think i proved that today although i got a 2nd i asked the judge what i did wrong as he made me and Rhian Mcloughlin battle it out with a straight up and down together and then a figer of 8 on our own after the patternwork before, i was boling and staring to feel dizzy lol anyway he said she had it by a split of a hair as on the figer of 8 my hand changing over wasnt as fluent as hers, but i was dead pleased to hear that was all, i can now do straight lines!!!. Didnt Charlotte win the younger class?? Was anyone watching any JH??

Fiona
- By thomas-the-spot [gb] Date 19.06.05 17:39 UTC
Hi Fiona

You should have come and said hallo to us.  Yes Charlotte did win so I was very very pleased.  She has only been handling properly a short while. She also got BP as well so is very happy for a change and has insisted she has got to go in the paper!  At least he was interested in what he was doing.

Got to say I didnt watch all the classes as I was helping to pack up the show.

Hi
Im so sorry i didn't come and say hello i didn't really no who you where and i didn't no you were going!! I did see her having her picture taken in the ring on the other side I THINK im still in a daze and feel horrible, and my poor yank! Well i was upset to hear of a dog almost collapsing im the ring yesterday that Trevor and Tan had to run in the ring to rescue it, the handler hadn't even noticed and was still trying to show it, ill tell you later Rox!

OH as your on the committee who was the dog world photographer and what was his website address if you no?

Believe me we are all wiltingwe have had three days of the show but today was by far the worst day.  I am not commitee or at least I dont think I am Ian is though as he is on a power trip! They just give me a badge so I can have a free lunch and also so they can nab me for stewarding.

The photographer was www.k9photos.co.uk his name was Steve Jefford.

Wow did you see that I answerd it without even being near a computer.... :D

Yes I do train their.  Since we moved to Aston I have taken over the training full time as times changed, however handlers do get a little bit longer in training now (giving me less time on my dogs. :( )

Will look forward to seeing you.  I take it you will be bringing the beagie? Think I better learn how they are shown!!! :D LOL

Well done fiona.  Riahan is a really good handler aswell. I placed her first at hitchin on the first day and I think I also gave her 1st at henley.  but 3rd at her ringcraft match!!!!  But she is a super good handler and glad I'm not competeing against her!!!! :D
- By f.a.brook [gb] Date 20.06.05 12:39 UTC

Fiona
- By ice_queen Date 20.06.05 15:50 UTC
She normally handles with her grandparents...or even for her grandparents!
- By ice_queen Date 20.06.05 15:55 UTC
Don't ask me about figure of 8's!!!!  Ok tell ya what next time I manage to see you we will go thoguh it.  *'s I will not try to desicbe, I shall demonstrate, it is easier! :D

Yes you can swop dogs, just make sure you were  the number you are entered with, however if your thinking of using a dog your less familler with I wouldn't recommend,  Junior handling is on the bond between handler and dog when you are doing complex patterns.  I have seen too many juniors try and take in dogs they don't know, just be careful, only take in another dog if your ultra confident and happy!  ye sI know I have handlled many breeds and dogs, but a majority of dogs I have handled in junior handling I have knowen since puppies as I know the woners and see them at shows or ringcraft.

Good luck, you know you can talk to me any time! :D
- By f.a.brook [gb] Date 20.06.05 16:12 UTC
wel i no sallys but i dont no if shes going to nat gundog then i dont really wont to take ed in jh before breed classes but i really want to do it, you offerd me masie if u where at a show to take in and she dosent no me that well! so are you going back on that?
just try and explaine 8's!! please!
Fiona
- By ice_queen Date 20.06.05 16:22 UTC
BUt maisie is 100% trained juniors dog.  She was brought in as a juniors dog.  She knows everythign to do with junior handling that there is, bless her, what I mean (didn't explain myself clearly as usal!!!!) is don't take in a dog you don't have a bond with that isn't handling trained.  Some dogs have never been moved on the right side of a handler in their life.  Some get confused with send on's and arn't sure what all this shadowing is about.

Don't take in a dog that's not used to all this or you.

Like I say you have the offer of maisie (or any of mine with the exception of Arnie) because they are all juniors trained.

You have picked a great time to strat handling more seriously, your out of juniors in just over 6 months!, see ya in the ring then!!! :D
- By f.a.brook [gb] Date 20.06.05 16:29 UTC
O poo il be against my trainer NOOOOOOOO, No chance of a win there then, So are you going to nat gundog!! please say yes please say yes!! if so can i take my baby mum will look twice lol. I was really impresed with ed yeaterday he done some lovely send ons i felt.

- By ice_queen Date 20.06.05 16:35 UTC
I don't know fee.  I really have no idea what mum will enter! :D

If you want some tips you have to watch joe in junior handling!!!  Read his critique from Mid herts gundog in latest dog world.  Judge was Mr G Gregory!

Dad and myself have yet to compete against eachother.  we are both scared but looking forward to the day it arrives, One of us will beat the other!!! LOL
- By f.a.brook [gb] Date 20.06.05 16:37 UTC
