Please tell me you are giving her RAW chicken wings and NOT cooked???

I know of 8 week old pups who are able to devour whole chicken wings, they are after all dogs whos teeth and whole systems are designed to handle raw meaty bones, raw bones are more pliable and easier to digest.Whereas cooked bones can splinter, break off large chunks which can then perforate the stomac, cause a deadly blockage, the list goes ona nd on :(

Cooked bone are a huge no no,i hope you realise the damage you could be doing to your dog :(

Alot of us here are Raw feeders(barf) my dogs get raw meaty bones daily as well as most of their other meats, fruit, veg etc, raw. This is what dogs are designed to eat, their meals arent cooked for them in the wild.

Please re-read my above post,i edited it.

No worries :)

I was worried that i came accross a little harsh

You should check out the feeding archives, there is loads and loads of info on bones,or put 'raw' into the search option here.

Like i said pretty much any raw bone is fine to give, they are brill for their teeth and very nutritious.Far too many dogs are getting dentals done every year, this is another of the vets high money spinners which is probaly why they advise against giving bones  bones act like a tooth brush.

You should get loads of replies to your post in the morning,it's too late for my brain to function properly,so i cant be held responsible for any advice i give you :p :D

Check back in the a.m and we can talk some more :)

Yeah, my breeder told me never to give cooked bones, u know like the ones you buy in pet shops and that, due to them splintering, always give raw!
When i first heard of giving dogs raw meat and bones to eat i was like, u what?
but like frodo said, what do they eat in the wild? :)

Dogs are primarily carnivours NOT cornivours ;)

Firstly stop feeding her 'human food' and get her back on a balanced dog diet. Many of us feed raw but its a matter of preference.....so decide what you are going to feed and stick to it.By treating your dog to lots of goodies you are encouraging her to become fussy. If you decide to feed a natural raw diet then all bones and meat should be uncooked.

Tigra - have you had a puppy before?  If not, I would suggest that you get hold of a copy of Gwen Bailey's book, "The Perfect Puppy" - it will help you!

Tigra i would stick with your vet,it sounds like youv'e found a gem! :D It is a rare vet who actually advocates feeding a species appropriate diet rather than what he's got sitting on his shelves
