Hi there I have just been reading about the use of Bioflow collars during whelping to aid in pain relief and relaxation, I was just wondering if anyone had used one of these collars and do they seem to work? I am a bit sceptical unless I know someone who has had results - Thanks.

Over 20 years ago I was involved in a trial with the NHS using magnatherapy the results were that no effect was found, I'm not sure what trials they have carried out since but I don't know of any used by the NHS todate.  Having examined a bracelet sold for a pretty penny to my pensioner father I would say if you wanted to try it just detach the magnet from the cheapest fridge magnet you can find (or leave on the decorative bit if it is one of those wise sayings you would like to read everyday :D) and glue it to any old collar.
If it is any consolation I don't believe the act of giving birth is anything like as uncomfortable to a bitch as it is to a women and almost always a darn sight quicker :).  Human babies have enormous heads whereas the puppy comes in a virtually torpedo shaped slippery sac even true breach, ie feet first, does not make any difference.  Any real difficults, like side ons or extra large puppies are likely to require veterinary assistance and would probably mean a section.
