How close..well you can do brother/sister, Dad/daughter, mother/son..Well anythign really.  But unless you are experianced and have many experianced people with your lines to help you, I would think very close with line breeding.  All Breeding is a dangerous game.  When you play with nearly identical lines there are many cons aswell as the pros.

Guest, as Rox says, you have to have experience with the lines you are dealing with when doing any breeding - and of course first things to prioritise are the relevant health screens for your bitch.  All being well there, contact the breeder of your bitch for advice on whether it is even advisable to breed from her and source others experienced in your breed to pick their brains too.   Try to get yourself a mentor (usually your breeder) who will guide you in the right direction.   regards, Teri :)
