Hiya all, just wanted to know if anyone has tried that new Scary noises CD. We have just about gotten over separation anxiety when we had a huge storm today. Lucky was very scared! he went bk to the usual destruction and crying. he was shaking so much....
Now, will this Cd help? he is using the DAP for the Separation Anxiety and it didnt seem to calm him down much when the thunder started?
Any advice much appreciated!
Yes the Cd will help, but it will take a lot of time and patience. The cd has to be played daily on a very low setting, almost inaudible to us, the best way to tell is putting it on low and watching how the dog reacts. THen pair the cd with something fun, food or a game. Very slowly turn the cd up over time, but always make sure that the dog doesn't get scared. It may take several months if the dog is very sound sensitive. However, i have never actually had a dog that was scared by thunder and fireworks e.t.c. so i can't say from experience how long it takes. The dap will help, but the fear must be greater that its calming power.

I'm looking at getting one of those CDs for buffy, she scared of thunder as well, and after the last storm we have had 6 weeks of seperation anxiety day and night, now however she is back downstairs at night after slowly mobving her out of our room, and is up to 30min on her own at home. We found the dap only helped a bit but have had great results with the ANXIETY drops by HomeoPet they contain chamomile, valeriana (which is widely used in horse calmers) and Ignatia. costs £10.00 for a bottle, which lasts about 5-6 weeks depending on size of dog.. we have a PRT
